Palisades or Sneden Landing is small hamlet located in the town of Orangetown in Rockland County, New York. Palisades is located at the southernmost tip of Rockland County and surrounded by Tappan, Sparkill, Tallman State Park, and New Jersey boroughs of Rockleigh and Alpine. The zip code of Palisades is 10964.

Palisades is only 10 miles away from New York City by a convenient route on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (Exit 4.) via the George Washington Bridge. The main road passing through the hamlet is US Route 9W, which runs in the north-south direction through all of Rockland and down to new Jersey. New York State Route 340 is a short road that also runs through Palisades.

Palisades is a waterfront community with scenic views of the Hudson River and Westchester County. The community is characterized by multiple residential streets that are heavily wooded and isolated from the surrounding areas, offering a tranquil environment. Palisades is predominately a residential community of over 1,000 people, with limited commercial activity besides some aesthetic and notable presence from corporate conference center, senior citizen center and university research campus.

Palisades is home to the IBM Palisades executive conference center, a new state of the art hotel facility that features all the amenities for a perfect business meeting. The 48,000 square foot complex features over 40 conference rooms and 200 guest rooms. In addition to indoor recreational facilities of swimming pool and fitness, The IBM Palisades is located on over 100 acres in an isolated quite environment that includes a lake and tennis courts. Palisades is home to the Legion Field, the baseball field used by the Palisades-Sparkill Baseball League (little league.) The nearby Rockland Country Club of Sparkill includes 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, pro shop and clubhouse.

Palisades hosts the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), an internationally renowned research institution specializing in the Earth sciences that is part of Columbia University. The campus sits on over 140 acres and includes more than 10 buildings.

Having a close proximity to New York City, Palisades has a history of being home to many celebrities.
